Valencene is a sesquiterpene with a plant-production story

Valencene is associated in the research literature with citrus aroma and plant or microbial production. A name on a chemical report is a composition finding. It does not identify a cannabis product or predict a medical effect.

The primary study followed yeast biotransformation

Researchers used the yeast Yarrowia lipolytica to examine how (+)-valencene was transformed into (+)-nootkatone. Differential proteomic analysis tracked proteins involved in that microbial process. This is a plant-biotechnology and microbial laboratory study. It does not measure human exposure, a patient outcome or a cannabis formulation.

A label cannot borrow the yeast result

If valencene appears in a report, the entry should remain attached to the laboratory method, amount, batch and surrounding composition. The yeast conversion experiment does not establish what valencene does in a person or whether a prescribed product reproduces the same biological setting. NHS medical-cannabis information supplies the separate clinical context.

The evidence supports a narrow question about biotransformation. It does not support a treatment, safety or product-response claim from a valencene label.
