Glossary term
Cannabis-based product for medicinal use: In UK practice, this term refers to products that meet the legal definition used after the 2018 law change. NICE also uses it as part of its prescribing framework.
Why this term matters
It is one of the most important glossary terms because it sits behind much legal and clinical guidance.
UK medical cannabis context
Since 1 November 2018, specialist doctors have been able to prescribe medicinal cannabis products within the UK framework.
What not to assume
Not every CBD product, hemp product or cannabis-branded item is a CBPM.
Careful wording: Avoid implying all cannabis-related products are medicines.
