Glossary term
Strain: “Strain” is the common consumer term for a named cannabis variety. It is familiar, but it is not the most precise scientific or medical term.
Why this term matters
Patients search it constantly, so a glossary should explain it rather than pretend it does not exist.
UK medical cannabis context
A cautious UK site should usually prefer “cultivar” or “product” in formal copy.
What not to assume
Strain names do not reliably predict medical benefit or personal response.
Careful wording: Avoid “best strain for…” pages on an educational medical site.
